GLOBAL IMAGINATION PRODUCTS FEATURED
AT THE IBM SMARTER PLANET EXHIBIT
IN INNOVENTIONS AT EPCOT
®

24" Magic Planet & 3m Magic Planet PufferSphere

disneyworld epcot magic planet Products from Global Imagination are at the center of a new exhibit on creating a smarter, greener planet. A collaborative effort between IBM and Walt Disney Imagineering has led to the usage of Magic Planet® in the newest exhibit to open at INNOVENTIONS - Smarter Planet. This experience was officially opened on January 29, 2010 with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by IBM and Disney executives and invited guests. A main focal point of the exhibit is the usage of Magic Planet to provide a 360° view of Smarter Planet initiatives in action. This unique product allows for the messaging to be continually evolving and displayed in a way that draws visitors to the exhibit. In addition to the 24" Magic Planet, a 3 meter Magic Planet PufferSphere acts as the marquee for hands-on interactive kiosks that offer visitors a "match" game that reveal the societal and technological implications of creating a smarter planet.  Both products allow IBM to communicate their unique corporate vision and messaging in an innovative medium while being aesthetically pleasing for visitors.

CARNEGIE MUSEUM AMAZES KIDS
WITH THE MAGIC PLANET

The Magic Planet in a live theater show
w
The Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh's premiere museum hosting over 500,000 visitors per year, is using the The Magic Planet in their Works Theater. The Magic Planet is the centerpiece of the 200-seat theater, which hosts live scientific demonstrations. For example, kids can see the Magic Planet illustrate the composition of the sun while a Carnegie Education Coordinator ignites a hydrogen balloon to demonstrate the sun's energy.

The Works Theater uses a unique array of 8 projection screens situated in a 360-degree arc around the outer edges of the theater. Not only did Carnegie employees leverage Global Imagination's unique suite of custom software and content, but the museum also created their own custom content using the Global Imagination's FullGlobe software. FullGlobe helps unleash the full potential of the Magic Planet by allowing content creators to design unique, interactive multimedia quickly and easily. MAGIC PLANET STOPS THE SHOW AT BETT

BETTChosen from over 700 exhibitors, the Magic Planet was listed as one of five top "Show Stoppers" at BETT by Futuresource Consulting, Ltd., education technology's most trusted market research firm. BETT, the British Education and Training Technology conference, is the world's largest event of its kind. The four-day conference receives about 30,000 visitors every year. "We had an exceptional show, capturing the hearts and minds of educators and potential partners from all over the globe," said Scott Eichler, President of Education & Consumer Products at Global Imagination. MAGIC PLANET HELPS BRING THE
OCEAN TO THE CLASSROOM

Magic Planet is used to engage students by UCSB
Santa Barbara REEFThe Marine Science Institute, at the world-class university of U.C. Santa Barbara, was faced with a monumental challenge: teach students about our oceans and water cycle, all while keeping the students engaged. Their solution was the Mobile REEF program, a two-part interactive experience that has proven to be effective at improving students' comprehension of the planetary water cycle.  In the first part of the course, students are shown the Magic Planet, which mimics the Earth's vast water cycle using actual climatologic data.

The REEF Program chose the versatile 16" (41cm) Magic Planet and selected educational animations that were ideal for teaching ocean science. The images and animations helped illustrate coral bleaching across the planet, ocean current patterns, and the science behind global warming and El Niño. The content, developed using data from NASA and NOAA, was selected from among hundreds of images and animations in Global Imagination's Community. MULTI-LINGUAL MAGIC PLANET
TEACHES YOUNG SCIENTISTS

 Science House's touch screen exhibit
science house touch screenAmong the many exhibits at the Science House at Rust is a Magic Planet, and it has become a hit with the adults as much as it has with the kids. "We're very happy with the Magic Planet," said Dr. Svantje Schumann, Board of Directors Delegate of the Science House. "It is truly a charming exhibit... [It's] an impressive way of offering information and entertainment at the same time."

The Science House exhibit - located near the border between Switzerland, Germany, and France - helps teach young visitors the basics of Earth science, climate change, and the solar system. The exhibit is unique, in that it's the first trilingual Magic Planet exhibit to date. Visitors can view an entertaining, interactive touch screen in their choice of three languages (German, French, and English). The interactive elements of the exhibit were created quickly and easily using Global Imagination's development tools.

Another European educational organization, the Science Concepts Group (a project of the Foerderverein Science and Technology e.V.), also uses the Magic Planet to organize science outreach projects for schools all over Germany. They have two traveling tour buses, each equipped with a portable Magic Planet, intended to bring entertaining science directly to school children.
